A Life Reclaiming Program for Survivors of Sexual Abuse, Trauma, and PTSD

Blossom Beyond Abuse - Reiki Master - PTSD and Trauma Therapies - Sexual Assault Counseling

Melody Testimonial

My work with Sunny has been life changing in the most unexpected ways. In learning from Sunny I have been given insight into my behavior and responses. I understand the why and how trauma has affected my life and decisions. One of the other aspects of working with Sunny is the peace from knowing that it’s not about what’s wrong with me, but what’s happened to me. This has allowed me to move from victim to victor. I have found grace for myself and others.

I absolutely recommend anyone seeking healing to pursue working with Sunny. You are worth it. Your life is worth it. Sunny’s wealth of experience and education is very clear and her approach is innovative and effective-Melody in VA.

Recover from Sexual Abuse and the grief, loneliness, shame, and fear of the future. it’s never too late!

Welcome dear one! I’m glad that you found Blossom Beyond Abuse. This is a place of Safety, Confidentiality, Compassion, and Empowerment. You may just be beginning your search or you’ve looked elsewhere and haven’t found the answers yet.

I offer a unique, non-clinical, whole being approach for those looking for an alternative or complement to doctors and therapists.

A note: I am not a therapist or doctor therefore I do not accept insurance. I accept Afterpay payment plans.

This approach offers a very different perspective on healing from sexual abuse and trauma. I am a Reiki Master/Energy Healer for 29 years, a Certified Life Coach and Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor.

“Know Thyself” is my mission statement. We are powerful people who have experienced difficult times, but it isn’t a life sentence once we discover who we truly are.

Our mind is a program that runs on auto, creating chaos and endless chatter. It keeps us focused on the negative, holding us back from a peaceful life. It is filled with limiting thoughts that were adopted at a very young age from people (parents and influencers in your life) that were passed on from their family. We become conditioned to believe that we are these negative thoughts. They can hold us back for a lifetime. If you examined them for just one day, you may come understand why you are where you presently are. It’s not to inflict blame. That’s the last thing I want to do. It is to become more conscious of where you are so you can grow and expand. When you can name it you can change it.

We are here to remember our powerful true nature. Very few escape the mind completely, but we can train ourselves to shift focus for extended periods of time more and more. As we do so we get in touch with a deeper wiser part of ourselves and our life changes for the better.

You may think, what does this have to do with sexual abuse and trauma? It is a way out…out of the suffering, the fear of the future, lack, illness, bad relationships, loneliness, abandonment, betrayal and pain, as the mind is continually reminded of the trauma and abuse that has or is occurring in your life. It runs on auto and becomes habit. In a sense, we unknowingly become addicted to the chaos of the mind.

The Living Light Program is a step by step process of moving you out of the mind to knowing yourself as an unlimited and powerful creator of your life. This enables you to leave the past behind and truly live a life that feels happy and peaceful.

It starts with distance Reiki (see below) and energy healing sessions to raise your vibration. Reiki opens and balances your energy field, so you can get out from under the weight of the lower vibrations of guilt, shame and unworthiness.

Combined with powerful life coaching sessions, you will begin to feel empowered, to love and trust yourself and experience more joy and abundance in your everyday life.

The Living Light Program is a trauma informed approach where you are never asked to relive your sexual abuse or trauma.

I know this is one of the most devastating times in your life…I know because I’ve been there. I am a survivor of childhood sexual assault. I healed myself through the practices that you will learn. I am now a powerful person capable of extraordinary things, no longer at the mercy of my thoughts.

I stopped believing the thoughts that ran through my head that said I was unworthy, shameful and undeserving of a great life. You would have never recognized me if you knew me before my transformation began. This can be you too.

The medical community is now recognizing how important peer to peer support is in healing trauma. It is now incorporated into many mental health programs.

Let’s explore together, the relief from suffering at the hands of sexual abuse and trauma…the release of pain, illness, lonliness, betrayal, shame, guilt and unworthiness. And your transformation into a happy, powerful and vibrant person living a prosperous life no matter how old you are.

I don’t ask you to adopt these principles on my word, I’ll show you how to experience them for yourself. Trauma is generational and so is healing. When we heal, our family is healed. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for a daughter, grandson or other loved ones.

You and they deserve true happiness…it is your birthright.

Reclaim Your Sense of Self - After Sexual Abuse and Sexual Trauma

What is Trauma?

During the past few years, trauma has become such a catch word. I like the way Dr. Gabor Mate describes it,
“Trauma is a psychic wound that hardens you psychologically that then interferes with your ability to grow and develop. It pains you and now you’re acting out of pain. It induces fear and now you’re acting out of fear. Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.

This may be sexual assault, domestic violence or a serious accident, but it can also be other events as well. For example: growing up with an alcoholic parent, watching someone being beaten or killed, having a loved one constantly invalidate you, or perhaps you were bullied. These and others like it may not be perceived as creating deep harm, but never the less, they are difficult psychic wounds that need care and healing.

Repressed Memories

Many times these events will be repressed. Repressed memories are things that happened to us that are stored in our subconscious memory, usually because they are too difficult for us to handle at the time. You may not remember them, but they are stored in your body/psyche and are having an impact on your daily life.

Symptoms of Trauma

When I was very new to recovery, I was always in unhealthy, co-dependent relationships. I continuously attracted this type of guy. That is a symptom of trauma that I wasn’t aware of. Fortunately, in the Living Light Program, you don’t have to relive the trauma to heal it.

Other symptoms of trauma are:

  • Addiction: drugs, alcohol, recurring challenging relationships, shopping, eating (over and restrictive), repetitive negative thoughts, etc.
  • Risky relationships: unprotected sex, one night stands, abusive, unavailable people (married or unavailable-emotionally or physically distant)
  • Self-destructive behavior: driving too fast, drinking too much, uncontrollable gambling
  • Constant anxiety and stress that never seems to go away-always on alert.
  • Feelings of guilt and shame with or without explanation.
  • Feelings of anger and rage that infiltrate every part of life.
  • People Pleasing: making everyone else a priority over yourself. Don’t know how to say no.
  • Depression/low self-esteem: these go hand in hand.
  • Panic attacks
  • Suicidal thoughts and attempts: please see Resources

It is my intention that by showing you the symptoms of trauma, you may recognize them in yourself and seek help. It may be painful to realize that you are a survivor of sexual abuse and trauma, but it is the first and very important step in the healing process. We can’t heal what we don’t see.

Spiritual Healing from Childhood Trauma and Sexual Abuse in Adults

What Are ACE’s? Healing Childhood Sexual Abuse and trauma in Adults

Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood (0-17 years). For example:

  • Experiencing violence, abuse, or neglect
  • Witnessing violence in the home or community
Having a family member attempt or die by suicide
  • Also included are aspects of the child’s environment that can undermine their sense of safety, stability, and bonding, such as growing up in a household with:
  • Substance use problems
  • Mental health problems
  • Instability due to parental separation or household members being in jail or prison

Please note the examples above are not a complete list of adverse experiences. Many other traumatic experiences could impact health and wellbeing.

ACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance use problems in adolescence and adulthood. ACEs can also negatively impact education, job opportunities, and earning potential.

ACEs can have lasting, negative effects on health, well-being, as well as life opportunities such as education and job potential. These experiences can increase the risks of injury, sexually transmitted infections, maternal and child health problems (including teen pregnancy, pregnancy complications, and fetal death), involvement in sex trafficking, and a wide range of chronic diseases and leading causes of death such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and suicide. (From the CDC)

Healing childhood trauma in adults holistically entails being willing to see and embrace a greater eternal part of you and moving beyond the past. Imagine the possibilities!

Do you know that you are a powerful, unlimited person? It’s time to end your suffering. I am so passionate about introducing you to simple proven methods that have been used for centuries.

Are you ready? I know change, even positive change can be scary, but I’m here to walk this path with you.

Recover from sexual trauma and assault in the military

Sexual Assualt in the Military

Military sexual assault is widespread and very rarely prosecuted. Many victims of sexual abuse and violence actually experience trauma twice: once, at the hands of the offender, and a second time, at the hands of the institution they serve. It is frowned upon to report, leading to suffering in silence and when it has, there is retaliation, even discharge. You’ve been ostracized by your fellow servicemen and let down by your country. What a horrific way for you who has served and defended our freedom to be treated. I welcome you to with open arms and heart.

There Are Common Threads in All Forms of Sexual Abuse and Trauma

How to Deal with Anxiety from SExual Abuse, Trauma and PTSD- Reiki Healing Services
Anxiety & Stress Relief

You’re late for an appointment that you’ve missed 2 times before with a therapist who is scheduled one month in advance. You didn’t sleep well last night…your mind was racing. You are having difficulty concentrating and can’t figure out what to wear and the dog just peed on the floor. You’re feeling anxious and stressed! Stress and anxiety have become a way of life for you.

There are many tools to change these patterns developed post-sexual abuse and trauma. One that has worked for me is binaural beats. They are short meditations that heal the mind and emotions. They help to calm the mind by gently changing your brain frequency. They have helped me tremendously. They get my day started on the right foot and prepare me for a restful night’s sleep. Give them a try! I offer many selections in The Living Light Guidebook.

Overcome the Guilt and Shame from Sexual Abuse and Trauma (3)
Why Do I Feel Guilt & Shame?

Shame hides. It disguises itself as anger, depression, and addiction to name a few. Guilt and fear are close friends. Fear is what you feel when you believe that you are guilty of something and deserve punishment. But these are games of the mind.

Emotions originate in the mind. But you are not the mind. Once you experience yourself from an empowered state, you will realize that emotions no longer have control of you.

I’ll work with you on this in the Living Light Program.

Reiki Healing Practitioner for Relieving Trauma

Reiki, simply put, is a Japanese technique for relaxation that promotes healing. I have found it to be so much more than that!  It literally shifted the trajectory of my life.”

Rebuild Self Confidence and Self Esteem

Confidence & Self-Esteem Boost

Confidence and healthy self-esteem are natural expressions of who we are. As a survivor of sexual assault, it is very common to have no confidence and zero self-esteem. Sexual assault is actually a power grab by your perpetrator/s. When you feel powerless, your confidence tanks. Self-esteem is reclaimed when you realize that your power resides within and can never be lost. You can begin with positive affirmations to bust through powerlessness into confidence and high self-esteem.

Here are a few:

  • I am strong and powerful.

  • I honor myself.

  • I appreciate my strengths.

Cultivate Self-Love PTSD

Love Yourself –

Raise Your Vibration

Begin to love yourself by raising your vibration! Move into the vibration of unconditional self love and feel joy again!

Here’s are some ways to raise your vibration:

  • Sound is vibration: listen to uplifting and inspiring music or play an instrument.
  • Creating art-it is freeing to create without judgment.
  • Eat high vibrational foods: Make a simple change by adding a fruit or vegetable to your diet-try something you’ve never had before!
  • Connect with the earth: Walk on grass barefoot, take a swim in the ocean or bath, walk in sand.
  • Step away from the constant negative news cycles, gossip and media by turning off or limiting your exposure to the TV or computer.
  • LAUGH! If you can’t laugh at life, you’re taking it way too seriously!
  • Our thoughts majorly affect our vibration-become more conscious of your thoughts. Think about how you can reframe the negative thoughts in more positive ones.

Simple changes make a big impact!

Cultivate Inner Peace and a Sense of Self

Reclaim Your Sense of Self

Who are you? You are a Divine being having a temporary physical experience. You are ancient, made of starlight. You are brilliant like the stars. The angels bow before you and serve you lovingly. You are sinless, guiltless, shameless… You are holy…whole and perfect in every way. You are connected to the entire universe. You are One with the infinite abundance of the universe. Your natural experience of life is PLAY: Peace, Love, Light, Abundance, and joY. (From The Living Light Guidebook)

If you don’t feel the loving message above there is hope! You can always reconnect with this truth.

We are here to remember our true nature and live our highest potential in the most beautiful and loving way!
